MY STORY

JoEtta Burton Heck, RDN, CP-FS

 JoEtta is a registered dietitian nutritionist and graduate of Indiana State University.  She is a Chopra Center Certified Perfect Health: Ayurveda Lifestyle Educator, an Accredited T'ai Chi Chih Instructor and a National Environmental Health Association Certified Professional in Food Safety.

When you think about balanced health, what comes to mind? Balanced health is more than the numbers on a scale. Balanced health is beyond the nutrients in your plate of food. Balanced health evolves through awareness. Balanced health includes all aspects of yourself: mind, body and spirit. Balanced health is personal. Balanced health is life-long. Balanced health is more than being free from illness: it is a process of change and growth towards a mentally, physically, and spiritually healthy lifestyle. If you have a longing for this kind of balanced health, you are invited to subscribe to this website and participate in the events offered that support balanced health as described above.  DIET for Balanced Health is a consciousness-based lifestyle business that supports your journey towards balanced health through education, action and connection. Each day we make lifestyle choices that impact our well-being, either knowingly or unknowingly. What is DIET?

DIETforBalancedHealth.com is the domain name the founder JoEtta Heck, RDN, CP-FS, Chopra Certified Lifestyle Educator and Accredited Tai Chi Chih Instructor, had acquired over five years ago. Creating a website was part of her professional development plan for more than ten years. Acquiring a business domain name was one of the first steps towards reaching that goal.  After receiving her certification through the Chopra Center as a Perfect Health Lifestyle Educator in 2020, she knew this domain name was perfect for her newly acquired certification and business plan. DIET is an acronym for Discover - Integrate -Empower -Together.  Even though the Perfect Health Lifestyle Program has an optimal nutrition component, JoEtta learned many years ago that optimal food consumption is only one aspect of lifelong well-being also known as perfect health. So as misleading as it may appear initially, this “DIET for balanced health” website and business focuses on getting to know yourself through consciously engaging in and creating your life. It is not a diet, meal plan or other primarily food-based website, even though we may discuss nutrition and host cooking demonstrations as part of the community’s support for a perfect health lifestyle.  You are invited to join our perfect health community so you, too can enjoy our intention:

How to Create a joyful life grounded in wholeness

Through wondering and wandering, we learn about life. When we add a focused intention to our curiosity and give wandering with this intention our attention, we learn to create the life of our dreams. If you have an intention to create a joyful life grounded in wholeness, we are here to guide you along your creative path.  Each of us experiences joy from many different and personal experiences. On this site, joy is expressed as a life-enhancing and life-long feeling. It comes from that place within you where nothing outside of you shakes it. Many of the practices taught in the Perfect Health: Ayurveda Lifestyle Program teach you how to experience this joy through daily rituals that connect you to your true self. This is the self of your essence, your spirit. This is the self that is not caught up in the games the ego likes to play. This is the self that has grown in awareness and can tell the ego (that part of us that likes to divide and separate) to “go sit in the corner: you no longer control me.” 


Living a life grounded in wholeness includes an everyday self-care ritualistic practice based on how you are feeling as you connect to your environment of ever-changing stimuli and knowing what you need to remain grounded and whole. Creating this kind of life is an ongoing process of getting to know yourself and how you relate to your internal and external world. This is a life-long journey. Self-Awareness Empowers

 JoEtta chose to expand her training as a registered dietitian to include mindfulness practices for self-healing through movement, stillness, awareness via sensory aspects, and awareness within her living environment. 

 Throughout her life journey, she has embraced the benefits of self-awareness to enhance her resilience to the challenges,

 Throughout her life journey, she has embraced the benefits of self-awareness to enhance her resilience to the challenges, as well as, the pleasures encountered on her life's path. Her journey is dynamic. Through the practice of many self-care rituals, she grows a life of joy, peace, and equanimity.
